Swim Parka Remake for Swimmers Who Bundle Up Before Racing

The swim parka makes me feel like a warrior. Strong. Relentless. Its aura of invincibility is most appreciated when my body is sluggish and self-doubt is looming. I dread swimming in the winter. The darkness dampens my motivation and tests my discipline! The swim parka exudes a magical vibe. The mere sight of it makes me feel like a polar bear. The moment I put it on, I know that I can overcome anything. I want to do my best.

But the swim parka doesn't make me feel like a diva. Traditional swim parkas are long, boxy, and plain. There are some pockets, a hood, and a zipper. That's our MVP, minimum viable product.

I'm tempted to generalize that the most serious swimmers wear the longest and coziest swim parkas. We can't afford to be cold and stiff. Every micrometer of our bodies needs to be perfectly warm. Our swim parkas put us in a state of flow. My swim parka helps me thrive under pressure, like a protective armor that nurtures and instills confidence in me.  I love my swim parka!

Traditional parkas come in vibrant primary colors like red, blue, and green. I wear my team color with pride. When I step outside of the pool, I appear as conspicuous as a parrot. I avoid eye contact with all beings, and scurry for home.

I wish my outfit didn't scream SwWwwwwWiiIIIiiIIiIiMMMMmMMmmMMMMmmmmEeeEEEeeeRRR.

Functional yet conspicuous. I feel bittersweet toward it.

Have you come to accept that swim parkas cannot be refined aesthetically? If you're thinking pft, no one cares, then let's agree to disagree.

If you share this tingling desire for something better, join me in remaking the swim parka as a fashion item in your capsule wardrobe.
